A Shaving Good Time

And now the boy shall forever wear a cap

My husband has convinced the first born to shave his head.  To be honest the style he had going on wasn’t all that bad but for some reason my husband was itching to get the clippers out.  After a full day of discussing this the first born finally made his decision, he was going for it.  We haven’t let him shave his head before and he’s wanted to, now that they aren’t going to school and there is zero risk of him scaring the shit out of any old ladies we decided it would be the perfect time to let him express himself and have the freedom to choose his own hairstyle.

So, father and son took the plunge, sitting in the bathroom, Dad got the clippers out, the first born got comfy, Dad laid out the towel to catch everything. I’m watching from a distance and wondering why they’ve decided to do this on the day I’ve cleaned the bathroom. Then they went for it, the first swipe of the clippers and a clump of hair fell in front of him, the first born wobbled a bit, let out a nervous giggle, I eyed the husband, we each have an idea of what’s coming next.  Half way in the first born started to cry and decides wants his hair back.  Obviously, we have to break the news that we can’t actually do that but putting a positive spin on things we tell him it will grow back in a few weeks. Not believing a word we say he slopes away to check in with his other parent. “Alexa, how fast does hair grow?”.

I hate it when my husband shaves his head, he has a funny shaped pale head and shaving it results in him sporting an under nourished look, so he hasn’t done it for years. However, since he made the first born cry he had no choice but to join in, solidarity and all that since all of this was totally his fault. I now have two boys with shaved heads who will probably (in about 2 months) be sporting mullets, along with 70% of all men everywhere.

Obviously the girl wants to shave her head too.
